The History of Utensileria Modenese Minimize

From its foundation until the end of the ‘Seventies

It was in Modena, in 1949, that Walter Sighinolfi left his job as a tool man at Magneti Marelli and set up on his own as an itinerant hardware merchant. His business grew quickly and steadily, in 1956 he moved to a fixed location in Viale Storchi and in 1965 founded the one-man company Utensileria Modenese, for the retail sale of hardware, machine tools and accessories.

The changing generations also marked changes in management of the company, which was transferred in 1972, changing its denomination to S.n.c., before being passed over to the management of husband and wife team Mauro Massa and Simonetta Luppi in 1981.

The ‘Eighties

The ‘Eighties were years of radical changes and development in the company, seen both in its move to the premises in Via Germania in 1982, its transformation into S.r.l. and its change from a general goods company to one increasingly specialising in wood and metal-working tools and instruments of measure.

The ‘Nineties

The ‘Nineties saw affirmation and consolidation of the company, which in 1993 joined the Consorzio Distributori Utensili (CDU) (Tool Distributors’ Consortium), the only group of its kind in Italy which has brought together the most qualified retailers in this sector. Utensileria Modenese thus gained the heritage of knowledge and experience that only the synergism of a group can provide, enabling it to guarantee its clients the most highly qualified solutions for problems requiring a high level of technological content and experience in the sector.

In 1994 it was the first company in the sector in Emilia Romagna to obtain ISO 9002 Certification. Utensileria Modenese focuses its attention on Quality, in the form of respect for certified procedures, from provisioning to storage, from commercialisation to pre and above all post sales support. Quality also in the form of constant training for the staff working in the company and for the internal and external sales force, thanks to the support of highly qualified training institutes. Quality in the form of ongoing improvements to achieve the primary goal of customer satisfaction. In 2009 Utensileria Modenese s.r.l. was certified compliant with the new UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standards, while the company also boasts certification of its service under UNI 10572 regulations for this sector.

The New Millennium

In 2004 Utensileria Modenese was joined by the new service company UM S.r.l.

In the summer of 2008 the headquarters were moved to Via Repubblica Val Taro 220 in Modena, within a new industrial estate; these new headquarters are perfectly in line with the company’s aim for continual growth, visibility and innovation.

In 2009 Utensileria Modenese joined Confindustria.
